Holywell: ‘Reckless’ criminal damage at Ysgol Treffynnon

Damage was caused to the school grounds at Ysgol Treffynnon on Pen-Y-Maes Road, Holywell, on Monday, February 12.

Police say a dump truck which is being used for general maintenance on the foot path behind the school has been driven around the field and through a fence that joins onto the footpath from The Strand to Nant Y Coed.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “This reckless act has caused significant damage to the schools property and is unacceptable.

“We take incidents like this very seriously, and we are actively investigating the occurrence.

“If anyone witnessed anything suspicious or has any information regarding this incident, we urge you to come forward and contact us. Your cooperation could be crucial in identifying those responsible.”

John Weir, headteacher of Ysgol Treffynnon, said: “We were disappointed to learn of the damage to school grounds over half term caused by this reckless behaviour and we will be working with the Police to assist in their investigations into the incident.

“Thankfully, no one was injured and the damage was not more significant. Repairs are now in hand.”

The damage caused to the school grounds is currently being fixed by the school’s maintenance team. 

The investigation conducted by North Wales Police into the incident is ongoing.
