Karnataka govt to conduct 2-day job fair in Bengaluru from Feb 26, seeks to employ at least 50,000 job aspirants | Bangalore News

The Karnataka government will organise a state-level job fair in Bengaluru’s Palace Ground on February 26 and 27 to provide employment opportunities to at least 50,000 job seekers.

Bruhat Udyoga Mela-Yuva Samriddhi Sammelana 2024 will have more than 1,10,000 job openings with more than 600 reputed companies, including Foxconn, Toyota, Wistron, Infosys, Schindler India, HDFC Bank, Biocon, Mahindra Aerospace, Molex India, Maini Precision Products, and TATA Group, as per officials.

Karnataka Skill Development Minister Sharan Prakash Patil said that every year in Karnataka, about 9.3 lakh pre-university (PU) students, 62,437 students from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), 48,153 students from polytechnic institutes and roughly 4,80,000 students from other colleges pass out. However, he said the unemployment rate is at 2.4 per cent as per Periodic Labor Force Survey Q3-2024.

“The job fair aims to bridge the unemployment gap and help connect Karnataka students with industries for job opportunities. In the coming days, more such measures will be taken to reduce the unemployment rate by organising more job fairs,” said Patil.

The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation has also developed a new portal for Bruhat Udyoga Mela for candidates and employer registration.

Festive offer

As per the data shared by the government on the sector-specific job positions, over 30,000 vacancies are in the form of regular employment while apprenticeship and internship are available in the banking, financial services and insurance sectors for 83 job positions. Similarly, there are 15,587 vacancies for 109 job positions in the manufacturing sector.

There are 9,704 vacancies in IT-ITES, 9,210 in electronics, 4,121 in aerospace and aviation, 4,120 in healthcare, and 2,998 in service sectors.

The government is also running free shuttle bus services from important bus stations like Majestic and Shanti Nagar for the job fair. The job fair is conducted without charging any registration fee for the candidates.
